FAQ

When do you play? When are sessions?

The Void is based on the CST/CDT time zone (GMT-6/-5), and members are expected to participate in our main Saturday sessions at 3 PM. We also have a secondary Wednesday session at 7 PM; attendance is encouraged but not required.

Are there attendance requirements? How often would someone need to attend sessions?

There are no hardline written requirements for attendance. However, Void Gaming believes in active participation as a fundamental aspect of a healthy community. While Members are expected to attend our Saturday sessions, the expectation of participation goes beyond simply playing Arma with us every week. For example, throughout the week, we will often play a variety of other games, hold random discussions in Discord, work on mission design, and more.

How long do sessions usually run?

This varies as we typically will play 2-5 missions per session, with each mission lasting about 1-2 hours each. However, members are free to drop in and out as they please. We encourage playing for a whole session, but we know that committing that amount of time can be unfeasible for most.

Do I need past playtime experience or knowledge in Arma?

Absolutely not! While it would certainly help that you have some with the common controls or experience with mods in Arma, we believe that those skills can be taught. Your behavior and character are far more important to us.

Do you use mods?

Yes - we currently use a variety of mods such as ACE, ACRE, CUP, and more for our Arma sessions, including an assortment of terrain addons.

Can I be a part of another group/unit?

Yes, there is no issue with members spending time or playing with other people. However, members should want to try and be part of our community. Those who only want to play Arma and have no interaction with members outside of that (or only a clique with a few friends) should seek other communities. We want this to be a place where everyone wants to be part of a tightly-knit community that is more than just Arma.

Are you a milsim unit?

No, we're a community first and foremost. While we do try to employ realistic tactics in relevant areas of our sessions for the sake of making fun, coordinated, and cooperative tactical gameplay. We weigh the need for realistic tactics against the fun of playing Arma. Our members want to play seriously without sacrificing the fun and semi-casual environment we promote.

I have a friend in the community, does that help my application?

Regardless of who you know in the community, every application and person is reviewed on an individual basis. Each member of Void must go through the process of submitting an application, show their own effort and desire to join, and wish to be part of the community. No one will ever be "fast passed" into the group based on referral.

Does the Void primarily play Arma Reforger?

No, at this time, our focus is still centralized around Arma 3 as the game to bring us together. We also play other games throughout the week. However, we do hold special sessions to play Arma Reforger together.
